Business computing is the study of computer technology within a commercial context. It combines aspects of computing with subjects such as accounting marketing, business strategy, and information systems, allowing people to use technology to achieve organisational goals.
Companies require individuals who can design and build robust reliable, user-friendly, and reliable systems to support organisational decisions in an age where computers are increasingly used for information distribution and analysis of data. Our BSc (Hons) Business Computing degree will give you the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this competitive field, with guests lecturers from businesses sharing their experiences with you.
You will also learn the broad skills that employers look for in IT professionals that range from leadership and teamwork, to project management and problem-solving. The degree provides a foundation of knowledge in areas like programming and software development, web design, databases, and information systems, in addition to enabling you to specialise in aspects of marketing, data analytics and advanced computer science.
The course will provide you with an understanding of the Windows environment and the use of Windows application software, such as word processing with Word 2002 for Windows, spreadsheets and database management systems as well as presentation graphics software and the Internet. In addition it will educate you about e-commerce security and computer security issues.
The majority of the times, seminars and lectures are used to instruct, with a number of courses incorporating computer-based laboratory exercises. You’ll be expected undertake independent research and study, both at home and at the university.
